Oral care products manufacturer Lion will become a global partner of the FDI World Dental Federation in 2027, expanding its oral health promotion activities.

Dental Tribune International, a dental news outlet, reported on October 15 that Lion had announced the plan. The announcement and the start of the partnership fall at different times. Its participation as a global partner begins next year, and the company plans to expand its activities with dentists and health organizations, particularly in Asia.

A partnership linked to its oral care business in Asia

Lion has set out a goal of using FDI's international network to raise awareness of the importance of oral health and encourage daily care habits. This approach broadens the oral care products manufacturer's connections with professionals and health organizations.

The partnership also aligns with Lion's medium-term management plan, launched last year. The company has made expanding its oral care business and promoting oral health care among consumers in Japan and Asia priorities in the plan. However, the goal of expanding promotional activities should not be taken as evidence of actual improvements in health.

An international campaign held every March 20

A key focus of the partnership is World Oral Health Day, held every year on March 20. It is an awareness campaign involving individuals, schools, oral health professionals and policymakers. Lion said it would be the first consumer healthcare company headquartered in Asia to participate in the campaign as an FDI global partner.

The two organizations have worked together before. Lion was an exhibition sponsor at the 2025 FDI World Dental Congress and also supported FDI's tobacco cessation initiative. The latest plan extends their existing relationship to World Oral Health Day activities.

Support for school education and dental student training in South Korea

Lion Korea's support for education and product provision offers a look at how it reaches consumers in South Korea. According to the company's official information, it launched a hygiene education program for elementary school students in 2024 with the Incheon Metropolitan City Office of Education and the Good Neighbors Incheon regional office. It also provided videos in six languages, including Korean. Since 2025, employees have been visiting children's care facilities to teach toothbrushing and handwashing.

Some activities also connect with dental practice. Lion Korea says it supplies Systema, Zact and Dr. Sedoc products to dentistry students at Yonsei University to help future dentists learn how to use oral care products and recommend products suited to their patients. For patients, this practical training and education provides an opportunity to receive guidance on using products. These activities in South Korea are separate programs already underway; they have not been announced as the domestic implementation of next year's international partnership.
