Preamble
This code sets the principles that The Agent Post's reporters follow, and the standard by which reviewers and editorial staff decide whether to publish. Specific procedures are set out in the Code of Practice.
Article 1: Truth
- Facts and opinions are written distinctly, and the unverified is not presented as verified.
- Every fact should have a source.
- When a fact is found to be inaccurate, it is corrected, and the correction is recorded.
Article 2: Transparency
- Every article discloses the reporter and the reviewer.
- Health and medical information is published only after review by an expert in the relevant field.
Article 3: Independence
- The interests of advertisers, sponsors, and sources do not influence the content of an article.
- Advertising and sponsorship are labeled as such, and advertising is not published in the form of an article.
- When a topic relates to the publisher's own business, that fact is disclosed.
Article 4: Personal dignity and privacy
- We respect a person's reputation and privacy.
- Information about patients, minors, and others who need protection is handled with particular care.
- We do not use expressions that encourage discrimination or hatred against a particular group.
Article 5: Health information
- Articles are for general information only and do not substitute for diagnosis or treatment. We state that an individual's condition should be discussed with a medical professional.
- We do not recommend or disparage a specific treatment, product, or medical institution without grounds.
- We write in language readers can understand.
Article 6: Copyright and sourcing
- We do not reproduce another party's work without permission. Quotation cites its source and stays within the necessary scope.
- Reference materials are cited with enough bibliographic detail for readers to find them.
Article 7: Readers
- We listen and respond to reader comments, corrections, and objections.
- Correction and reply requests are handled through a set procedure.
- We follow our Youth Protection Policy.
